Let's Make Some Music Together

Songwriting, recording, and musical collaboration with Verve Music

One of the things I've enjoyed most about being a musician for more than fifty years is working with other musicians. There's something wonderful about hearing a piece of music change and develop when another person brings their own ideas, experiences, and imagination into the process.

I've played everything from classical chamber music to bluegrass, Celtic, klezmer, blues, and electronic music. I've worked with musicians in recording studios, rehearsal rooms, concert halls, and occasionally in places where you wouldn't expect to find a violin player.

These days, much of my musical activity takes place in my home studio in Granby, Massachusetts, where I'm writing and recording original compositions, experimenting with new sounds, and collaborating with musicians near and far.

And I'm always interested in hearing about someone else's musical project.

Songwriting and Composition

Sometimes a song begins with a melody. Sometimes it's a few words, a chord progression, or an interesting rhythm. Sometimes it starts with a story that simply needs to be told.

I enjoy working with other musicians and songwriters to develop those ideas into finished compositions. My interests range from traditional acoustic music to electronic and experimental styles, and I'm particularly drawn to projects that don't fit neatly into a single category.

If you've got a song that needs another perspective, an instrumental composition that could use some development, or an idea you'd like to explore, I'd be happy to hear about it.

Violin, Fiddle, and Mandolin Tracks

Need a violin or mandolin part for your recording?

I've spent decades playing these instruments in a wide variety of musical settings. Whether you're looking for a traditional fiddle sound, a lyrical violin melody, rhythmic mandolin accompaniment, or something more adventurous, I can record tracks for your project.

Remote collaboration makes this easier than ever. You send me your recording, we discuss what you're looking for, and I record my parts for you to incorporate into your mix.

I'm equally comfortable exploring traditional musical styles and experimenting with unusual combinations of acoustic and electronic instruments.

Recording Studio Work in Western Massachusetts

I'm also interested in working with musicians and producers in recording studios throughout Western Massachusetts.

I've been involved in recording projects for many years, both as an instrumentalist and as someone who enjoys the creative and technical process of turning musical ideas into finished recordings.

Whether you need a violinist for a session, mandolin accompaniment, help with an arrangement, or another musician to contribute ideas, I'm open to discussing the possibilities.

Music Is Better When We Share Ideas

One of the pleasures of this stage of my life is having the freedom to work on projects simply because they're interesting.

I'm not trying to build another band, fill a performance calendar, or turn every musical opportunity into a business venture. I enjoy making music, meeting creative people, and discovering what happens when different musical ideas come together.

Some collaborations are carefully planned. Others begin with a casual conversation and end up somewhere nobody expected.

Those are often the most interesting ones.

Get in Touch

If you're working on a song, recording, or musical experiment and think I might be able to contribute, I'd love to hear about it.

After all these years, I'm still curious about what the next musical collaboration might sound like.
